This web page has been designed to give you access to a variety of information about our school. We are delighted with this as it will not only keep you informed, but also enable you to become a part of your childs learning.
If you are an international visitor to this site please send the children of Cosgrove Primary School a postcard. We would love to read them out in assembly and display them on a wall like an international guestbook.
To develop a community of motivated, confident learners who respect themselves, each other and their environment.
VISION STATEMENT
To improve learning outcomes by building a 'kind' school through engaging our whole community to value learning, themselves, and others.
MISSION STATEMENT
At Cosgrove School, we value everybody, and do our best, to help them, be their best.
VALUES STATEMENT
Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. In deciding to send your child to Cosgrove School we are confident you have made an excellent choice.
As a staff we are very aware that the early years of schooling are the most important in a child's life. This is when patterns of learning and attitudes are established that last for a life-time. Because of this we are fully committed to providing the best resources we can for each room. We are also committed to providing the best possible training, staff development and support for our teachers. We are grateful to our Board of Trustees for ensuring a considerable budget is set aside for these purposes.
We are all very proud of Cosgrove and we hope you will notice that this pride is evident in the attitudes, behaviour and work of our children. Cosgrove is without doubt a special school. We are blessed with happy, enthusiastic, innovative and dedicated staff.
Our School
Cosgrove is a ‘Kind’ School. Our aim is for children to thoroughly enjoy their time here. While at this school, they will be exposed to good, sound teaching practices, as well as innovative new ideas.
We have a poster in each class that represents what it is to be a Cosgrove Learner. In order for this to happen children need to adopt the ”Six Kinds.” These are being kind to themselves, others and the environment. Also we expect all children to be the learning, achieving and the community kind. In doing so they will stand tall and fly like an eagle in whatever they decide to do with their lives.
We have a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy, with extra support from a number of teacher aides. We provide assistance for students where English is their second language and we have a comprehensive Perceptual Motor Programme for all our junior children.
Cosgrove also provides opportunities in Culture, Sport and the Arts. We have Maori, Polynesian and Indian culture groups.
We strongly believe a healthy child will learn more effectively. Therefore this school has a strong emphasis on promoting the health and well being of our children. We are a Health-Promoting school, an initiative co-ordinated by our Cool Choices Team with ideas and programmes such as healthy lunches, peer mediation and the school student council. We further support our students and families with a pupil support person and a home liaison person.
We maintain an open-door policy. Staff members are always happy to speak to parents/caregivers at a time convenient for all.
