Virtues
At Cosgrove School the children practice the 'Six Kinds' which are: Be kind to yourself, be kind to others, be kind to the environment, be the learning kind, be the achieving kind and be the community.

The culture of this school is that we are kind to ourselves and others. Children receiving an Eagle Certificate have demonstrated being kind to themselves and others.

Cosgrove School is part of the Health Promoting Schools initiative. This encompasses many programmes such as "Keeping Ourselves Safe", our Values programme, Respect Rules, using our WITS (a strategy against bullying) and Rewards Day.

We also receive fresh fruit which is available to all children through the Fresh Fruit in Schools programme.

At Cosgrove School children are expected to do some Reading and some Maths at home. This is important to give the children extra practice and gives parents and caregivers an idea of what children are learning and how they are progressing.

Reading - children may have a class reader or, for seniors, a School Journal (except on Fridays). If so, please listen to your child read it to you. They may not know every word - it's OK to help them! If they bring the same book home more than once you will see an increase in fluency the second time. Please sign their homework book and return the reader in their bookbag.

Maths - children will have Maths Knowledge sheets to complete each week. At the end of the week they will be tested to see if they understand the concept and can go on to the next concept. The levels start at 1A and go up to 8D, so you will be able to follow your child's progress.

Other homework - may involve finding information or completing work which was unfinished in class.

At Cosgrove we are fortunate to have a swimming pool, a hall, a library and an ICT Suite for the use of our students.

Each level of the school has an adventure playground.

Cosgrove School caters for a wide range of sporting interests and actively participates in the "Push Play" programme.

Our school is regularly involved in sports exchanges with local schools and we encourage our pupils to participate and enjoy physical activity along with all other school subjects.
We are fortunate to have a swimming pool and during the summer terms swimming is an important part of our curriculum.

Cosgrove School has a zero tolerance policy for bullying. If you feel your child is being bullied please contact the school to discuss immediately.
Cosgrove school requires pupils to wear school uniform. This is compulsory and was implemented because of popular demand.

Underwood's Uniform Shoppe in Papakura is our uniform supplier. The shop is situated at 67 O'Shannesey Street. The school runs a small second hand uniform shop when items are available. Please ask at the school office during office hours.

Cosgrove School has a diverse staff and student cultural body. We embrace this diversity as it provides a great learning experience and sense of pride for everyone.

We currently have three active cultural performance groups throughout the school, who showcase their culture and talents regularly during assemblies.
