Cosgrove School is a Year 1 – 6 primary school in Papakura, serving a multicultural South Auckland community. The school first opened in 1959, and has established a strong reputation in our community for being an excellent place for our tamariki to learn and grow into confident, motivated citizens who respect themselves, each other and their environment.
Cosgrove School has modern classrooms, with many built or refurbished into the Innovative Learning Environment style with open spaces. Students have access to considerable IT resources with sets of chromebooks and tablets available for their use. We operate two syndicates, Junior: NE - Y3 and Senior: Y4 -Y6, each with wonderfully experienced senior leaders and a team of talented, enthusiastic and motivated teachers. We also support our teaching with a large number of teacher aids, who assist in classroom programmes or work independently with a group or individual students. We are very fortunate to have extensive grounds, three separate playgrounds, a solar heated swimming pool and a well-resourced library.
At Cosgrove School, we believe strongly that education is a partnership between the school and the Whanau, and we seek opportunities for families to be involved in their child’s learning.
We are very proud of our school and the educational opportunities that we offer our students.
Our school day is as follows:
There are no shortened school days for wet weather.
The school cannot take any responsibility for children who arrive before 8.30am. Any children arriving before 8.30am must assemble and wait quietly on the court area behind the hall or in front of the hall until the 8.30am bell. If it is wet, they may wait under the adjacent covered areas.
The school office is staffed between 8.30am and 3.30pm each day. Our answer phone operates outside these hours.
